This project was undertaken for Miller Birch who were appointed by Greens Leisure Group. rg+p were appointed to design the shell of the Health and Fitness Centre and to negotiate with the Planners up to the granting of planning permission. The project set out to redevelop an old textile mill brown field site. It included construction of a leisure centre, car retail show room and several small workshop units. The design of the leisure centre has been based upon Green's generic plan and rg+p developed the shell concept. The external appearance evolved through detailed negotiations with the local planning authority, who wanted a landmark building on the site.

The Planning authorities were also keen to maintain a harmonious proportion of scale between the Leisure Centre, car showroom and workshops.
