Description:

A traditionally designed development of 36 new build dwellings located in the heart of this Northamptonshire village on the site of a redundant timber yard. The design of the site complements both the High Street with its village street scene as well as Towcester Road which overlooks open countryside. The development can be seen from the new A43 Silverstone bypass and particular attention has been paid to this view to ensure the visual portrayal of the village to passing traffic.

The interior of the site creates a courtyard feel around the small central access road, which has been carefully designed to both enhance views while accessing the site and assist in reducing users speeds. The gently sloping nature of the site allows for a variety of interesting roof lines together with a number of plot variations, ensuring a random appearance which respects the village context.

The scheme has a mix of units, ranging from 2 to 5 bedroom terraces; semi detached and detached properties together with a small apartment building to provide a balance to the market, including social housing which would ensure the sustainability of the village. The design of the individual houses reflect the village vernacular of a mix of materials including natural stone and reclaimed brick walls with natural slate and tiled roofs with traditionally designed dormers, together with detailing in the form of exposed rafter ends, arched window heads and either stone or brick quoin corner detailing.
