Bendigo Building

Location - Nottingham

Client - Godwin Developments

Our Role - Architect, Visualisation, Urban Design

A contemporary, amenity-led, student accommodation scheme, The Bendigo Building is set to revitalise the former Royal Mail sorting office site in central Nottingham. The project will create a thriving new hub including 692 student rooms, gym, games rooms, communal study and lounge, fully landscaped courtyard garden, 312 cycle storage spaces and two ground floor commercial units.

The design has reimagined the vacant and derelict corner plot with a modern city block. The proposed building reads as four separate blocks unified by a simple material palette with rich brick detailing providing a distinction between each block. A key part of this project was improving the contribution to the public realm, and this was achieved through widening the pavement and creating a colonnade.
