Part of Leicester’s waterside regeneration, the latest phase in the redevelopment of the former BUSM factory comprises 41 townhouses and 313 apartments. On the banks of the Grand Union Canal, the biggest challenge for this development is its location within a designated flood zone. To mitigate this, the design proposal has arranged the housing in a series of islands

Further inspiration has been drawn from the site’s industrial heritage, and the material palette for the accommodation integrates elements of the former warehouse aesthetic such as brick detailing, large windows and dark grey panelling. All of the apartments have private outdoor terraces and the development also includes large areas of podium green space.
