Western Road is an award-winning, luxury student accommodation scheme that has regenerated a disused industrial site on Leicester’s waterside. A flagship scheme for the practice, Western Road has created a new student village including 750 bedrooms, gym, deli, cafe, cinema, recreation rooms and quiet study areas.

Situated on a narrow site with traditional Victorian terracing on the western boundary and in excess of 120m river frontage to the east, the design code was distilled to blend old with new. The result combined traditional brick finishes and feature detailing with modern rendering to create a façade that was both sympathetic and distinctive. Western Road was recognised by ProCon Leicestershire and Leicester Civic Society.
